Project 1221 has been operating sub rosa since the spring of 2001 and is dedicated to creating and marketing exceptional GAS TURBINE-POWERED vehicles, craft and aircraft under a single banner.
Overall, during approximately the past seven years, a great amount of independently financed work has been carried out, concerning the development of several design and engineering concepts for the introduction in due time of a complete range of road and off-road vehicles, craft and aircraft and notably concerning the development of PROPRIETARY TURBINE TECHNOLOGY.
A reference company, 1221 Management UK Ltd, representing Project 1221 to all intents and purposes, was established in London in the autumn of 2004 while the existence of Project 1221 was revealed during the last week of the year 2004 with the activation of the dedicated website.
In the summer of 2005, on occasion of the Bourget Air Show in Paris, Project 1221 announced the intention to develop and launch to the market the first ever production GAS TURBINE-POWERED road car.
In due time, Project 1221 could also concede exceptionally, to discriminating collectors, the use of its TURBINE CAR(S) as a base for the creation of "one-off" and/or small-series turbine models according to the time-honoured "coach-built" or "bespoke" tradition.
Conversely, Project 1221 is focusing on BRAND ARCHITECTURE and is always interested to explore the possibility of collaboration with other Brands (either active or dormant), Design Houses, individual designers or entrepreneurs and business entities in general, in order to (jointly) create and produce suitably denominated specialist models powered by reciprocating and/or hybrid engines, possibly on the basis of our versatile vehicle "platform" that could effectively minimize time-to-market and cost-to-market.
Besides the Automotive Field, Project 1221 is concentrating on SUPERYACHT conversion and new-build projects, with a particular interest to integrating hybrid/electric multi-fuel turbine propulsion and advanced aerodynamics (yes, aerodynamics!).
Most remarkably, Project 1221 is aiming at the elite market of the new breed of SUPERSONIC BUSINESS JETS (SBJ) and SUPERSONIC TRANSPORT (SST), having developed a REVOLUTIONARY ENGINE DESIGN that effectively provides thrust sufficient to attain "supercruise" speeds in the order of Mach 2.2 with - among several other advantages - a reduction of engine weight and engine cost in the order of approximately 35%, compared to even the most advanced of all the currently available "conventional" Gas turbine engines of equivalent performance.
Additionally, as a transitional alternative to outright engine replacement, Project 1221 is developing and will be selectively producing "UPGRADE KITS" for EXISTING TURBOFAN ENGINES that could thus benefit from SIGNIFICANTLY IMPROVED PERFORMANCE and RELIABILITY with SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED OPERATION COSTS via the integration of our inventive variable-cycle turbine concept.
GAS TURBINE ENGINES
Project 1221 is keen to expand, independently and/or in collaboration with industrial/financial partners, the exploitation of its avant garde PROPRIETARY TURBINE TECHNOLOGY, encompassing very small turbines for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), hybrid/electric multi-fuel turboshafts for land, marine and helicopter applications, general aviation turboprops and turbofans for civil and military applications.
ADVANCED DESIGN and ENGINEERING constitute the COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE of Project 1221. Manufacturing and certification of sub-systems are mainly commissioned to a network of highly qualified external partners and suppliers; nevertheless Project 1221 maintains full command during all stages, ranging from initial development and testing to fine tuning and cosmetic finishing.
This deliberate choice enables Project 1221 to optimize quality control, to adapt easily to variable market conditions, to respond swiftly to demand fluctuations and to minimize overhead as well as financial exposure. Thus, both initial investment and operational costs are kept to a strict minimum.
Significantly, all the design and engineering concepts that have been developed so far are owned outright by Project 1221. Nevertheless, Project 1221 may as well outsource relevant design and engineering services and acquire technological know-how or form alliances, as this will be deemed opportune in order to achieve the set industrial and commercial objectives.
Incidentally, all projects/products are considered as separate and independent ventures that should be viable on their own and may be implemented in different locations.
